A note on sport: This group is for riders who are pretty new to the sport and want to give racing a go, but don’t feel fit enough to be on the trail for over an hour.
A note on expert: This is a group for riders who feel they are faster than sport, but not fit enough to compete with their age group. It will generally be around the same duration as Masters 1/2.

IMPORTANT: Age is calculated based on your age at the end of 2020 as per MTBA guidelines.

Prior to the main race there is a junior ride for children who are 10 years old or younger. This is non-competitive with an emphasis on fun and group participation. It runs for approximately 15-20 minutes.

After getting completely drenched while doing the track marking, I was happy that the rain stayed away for most of the race. Despite the weather and the usual pre-Christmas chaos, it was great to see a good contingent of junior riders out and giving it a go. The juniors I spoke to seemed happier with the extra lap so we will aim to continue that length of race for the rest of the series. Then again, maybe they were happy because they had so many sausages to eat…

The next race will be on Sunday January 19th and at Glenorchy MTB Park. I realise this clashes with the Gravity Enduro event in Penguin, but January is pretty tight so this was really the only weekend we could run it. Apologies to those of you heading up for that event that will miss a round.
