All climbing or all Downhill? Why not both? XC mountain biking will have you covered.

This series is XCO style which means competitors complete a certain number of laps around a defined loop course.

Open / Elite riders will complete the most laps with less laps required for other grades. For more technical courses, the junior and sports riders will have a shortened / easier lap.

Getting There

Glenorchy MTB Park is situated at the end of Tolosa St. The gates will be opened for the event so we can use the internal car park.

Please note that the gates will be closed soon after, so do not leave your car in there and decide to go for a lap of the North South track. ๐Ÿ™‚

A great turnout for the first race of the series. It was excellent to see so many people getting out to enjoy a beautiful Spring day by riding up and down a big hill over and over. It’s a challenging course riding this way as there’s not a lot of rest and the downhill requires concentration, so well done to everyone who gave it a go. I think that given the volume of water around at the moment (and the downpour the night before) the course held together well. Thanks to Glenorchy City Council for the use of their mountain bike and to Mtn Trails for giving it a spruce up prior to the event.

Thanks to Elton, Aidan, and Chris for helping out before and during the event. Thanks as always to Adam and Sarah for bringing the trailer, doing the timing, setting everything up, wiping everything down and taking it away again. For those of you who don’t know these guys have been helping the club out in various roles for a very long time now (20 years?) and are retiring from this at the end of the year. So… we need more people to get involved in the club and help out as much as possible!

Next month, we do Clarence MTB park, with what should be an easier course (we aren’t going up corkscrew / green core climb). But as a wise person once said “it never gets easier, you just pedal faster”.
