Developing & improving mountain bike trails in the lower foothills of kunanyi/Mt Wellington
This event is run by City of Hobart Council and we encourage members and riders of the local MTB community to consider being part of this and future initiatives.
Participating in these events is not only a way to give back to the rider community in general. It is an an opportunity to learn and gain skills in how to build and maintain MTB trails. All this with the satisfaction of knowing you have made a contribution to improve the rider experience.
How to Get Involved
Dig days are held on the third Sunday of every month, 10 am – 3 pm, at various track locations in our bushland reserves.
You will need to register with Hobart City Council due to COVID-19 restrictions – see Trackcare link.
Specific Track Works
Formalise Yellow Hippo Track at the back of Knocklofty Reserve. The limited numbers will give plenty of scope for volunteers to ramp up their track building skills, and learn from the City’s experienced track crew.
This will bring Yellow Hippo up to international mountain bike trail standards, adding ride features, rock armouring and improving its long-term sustainability, while ensuring it retains its original character.
